The Hedgepeth’s journey to love began in the heart of Charlotte’s Uptown where Mike first met Ashely. It was at Mike’s official legal swearing in ceremony where the two would catch each other’s eye while Ashley worked the room as the photographer for the occasion. Other than exchanging smiles and Ashley taking a few extra snaps of Mike with her camera, the two left that evening not thinking much of their friendly encounter and didn’t exchange numbers.
It wasn’t until weeks later when Mike recognized Ashely cheering as a Top Cat on the Carolina Panther’s field and knew he just had to meet her again. I’m sure almost every guy has dreamed of dating an NFL cheerleader once in their life so you can imagine his excitement. Surprisingly a few weeks later they crossed each others paths; but this time Mike asked Ashely out on their 1st date. Needless to say, they’ve been each other’s debate partner and cheerleader in life ever since!
Booking for Bridal Hair
After seeing some of my previous bridal hair work, Ashley reached out and inquired about my service offerings and availability for her wedding day. After Ashley’s on-boarding where she completed a detailed bridal hair questionnaire and provided inspiration visuals, I was excited for the opportunity to work with her. She booked with me approximately 2 months prior to her actual wedding day which worked out great!
First, the bridal hair consultation was scheduled and this was our first time meeting each other and we greeted each other with a hug. During the consultation she brought her hair jewelry, veil and a couple pair of earrings as she was still finalizing on which pair to wear. I always recommend my brides bring any veil, headbands and/or accessories they could possibly
want to wear on their wedding day to their bridal hair consultation. Doing so will allow them to see exactly how the pieces will look with the hair style chosen. After wrapping up the bridal hair consultation, Ashely left smiling with confidence and even more excited for her big day!
The Bridal Hair Style
The day of the wedding I arrived at The Ritz Carlton Uptown Charlotte where Ashely’s bridal suite was booked. The room overlooked the city and was just beautiful. Upon arrival to the room Ashely was so thoughtful that she had snacks and drinks set up for her bridal crew and even her glam squad. After I set up my work station it was go time and I was in my zone!
Ashely’s hair style was a beautifully done low and full chignon. Using a deep side part this created an elegant updo which was over-directed to one side. Being mindful that Ashley’s hair is naturally curly, I used smoothing products that would tame frizz and holding products that would provide a firm yet flexible hold.
To begin, I sectioned the hair across the top of the head from ear to ear in two quadrants. Pin curling the top of the hair and letting it cool allowed me to pull the lower half of the hair into a low ponytail. I pinned the lower hair in place first as this was the base of the overall look. Afterwards, I took each pin curl down and began placing and pinning the hair to create soft textured twists and turns. Lastly, I ensured her edges were tamed using an edge wax stick or you can use an edge control. After securing her veil in place, Ashley’s mother and grandmother loved the look and gave their stamp of approval!
Ashley’s hair complimented her overall wedding vibe inspired by the couples laid back personalities and minimalistic style. Ashely’s hair updo was effortlessly chic, classic, earthy and modern!
