It all started on a Thursday in the Nations Capital of Washington, DC when Stacia and Kenneth first met and sparks flew. Out enjoying the nightlife with friends, like any young single professional living in the city, these two ended up first meeting at the popular lounge The Park at 14th. Almost instantaneous they both knew something was special and were inseparable ever since. The two began going on dates every Thursday as a way to pay homage to the day of the week they first met. It was during these standing Thursday dates where Stacia and Kenneth began building their mountain of love for one another.

The Bridal Hair Consultation

After seeing my bridal hair work on my website and on my instagram page, Bride Stacia reached out a few months before her wedding date to inquire about my bridal hair services. Her timing was great because as we all are now navigating a new normal with COVID-19, scheduling to avoid overlap of in-salon clients can be a challenge. The safety of my clients and myself is always top priority which is why I follow NC State Board and CDC recommended guidelines. I was able to effectively manage my calendar and provide Stacia with a consultation appointment date that best accommodated her out-of-town travel schedule.

On the day of her consultation, Stacia arrived timely and prepared! All of my brides receive a bridal hair questionnaire for their completion prior to booking and a checklist of items to remember for their consultation. When she arrived we were able to jump right in and get started.

Stacia’s Bridal Hair Look

I was super excited about Stacia’s chosen look because not too often do brides step outside the box and choose a look that is not typically worn as traditional bridal. Don’t get me wrong, nothing is wrong with a traditional bridal look but it is exciting to switch it up and do something bold and different from time to time.

For Stacia’s bridal hair look we took a classic pony and made it luxe glam by adding hair jewelry from Svetlana Koroteeva of SK Beauty Collection. During the consultation, we used gold beading as Stacia was still deciding on which color she wanted to use on her actual wedding day. For all of my bridal hair clients I make sure they understand the goal of a bridal hair consultation is to give you the ROUGH DRAFT version of what you can expect on your big day. All of the fine tuning, tailoring and heavy hair spraying will happen on the actual wedding day.

On the day of the wedding, I arrived on-location where the bride and her bridal party would later dress in matching robes enjoying the serene lake views from a beautiful lake front home. The bridal party make-up was done by Krysta Medley and her talented team, Maya and Alexis. After setting up, I was ready to begin styling hair for Bride Stacia and Mother-of-Bride Linda. Both ladies arrived with hair extensions already installed and ready for bridal hair styling. For Mother-of-Bride Linda, she went with a side part half-up and half-down style with large cascading curls. This look was spot on for her!

Before starting on Bride Stacia, she confirmed she had decided to switch up and go with the white hair beading which suited her overall look perfectly! We also edited the pony for a more tamed and romantic flow.

Stacia and Kenneth’s ceremony was held at Quarry at Carrigan Farms where mountains and a waterfall set the stage for a rustic elegance motif. Hues of marigold and juniper complimented the already beautiful natural setting where guests were able to briefly escape the stressors of reality and take in the beauty and love surrounding them. With the support of the groom’s aunt who has worn the title of “wedding planner” proudly for all of her nieces and nephews, she delivered The Johnston’s rustic elegance wedding theme beautifully.

Stacia and Kenneth enjoyed time away in Hilton Head, SC for their honeymoon. They’ve also taken flight for the Christmas holiday to celebrate their love in Jamaica!
