Back to SchoolIn addition to everyone’s back to school excitement with shopping for clothes and school supplies, the new back to school hair-do was also at the top of the list!  My soon to be sister in laws daughter asked me to do her hair for school.  Before I confirmed that I would do it for her, I surprised her with a room check.  She is a typical unemployed teenager who finds it very easy to spend others money and who keeps a messy room; but if you let her tell it, the room is eclectic.

Surprisingly, she passed the room check with flying colors so I agreed to do her hair.  While doing her hair I thought it would be a great learning opportunity to teach her that nothing in life is free.  In exchange for my time spent making her hair look good she owes me volunteer hours.  She has the choice to pick a place that interests her to complete her volunteer hours.  We agreed that she will keep track of her hours performed and provide me with valid proof of completion before she can ask me to do her hair again.

This learning lesson is a great idea because I hope it will teach her the value of others time, the importance of giving back to her community, and that she must work hard and earn what she wants in life.  If you are curious with what I did to achieve the after look, I placed heavy/fine highlights at the apex of the hair and down to the sides (front portion of head), cut approximately 1 1/2 inches of length and finished the style by straightening the hair.
