As I gear up for the 2014 bridal season, I wanted to share some recent work of mine where I provided full bridal hair services.  The new Dr. Darryl and Mrs. Adeola Glover celebrated their lifetime commitment to one another which has been

the best I’ve seen yet!  Adeola being of Nigerian decent planned two elaborate ceremonies; one traditional and one American.  Although I was not booked to style hair for her Nigerian ceremony because of the traditional Gele head wraps worn, I wanted to share the beauty of the occasion with you.  From the photos captured by their offical photographer, Hooman of Vesic Photography, you could see the richness of colors used and the authenticity of the complete celebration.  Something new I learned of was the Nigerian dance where family and friends gather around in celebration to spray the bride and groom with lots of money.  At Nigerian ceremonies you are sure to see vibrant colors in the traditional garb worn by women and men and to dance to the sounds of rhythmic drums.

The traditional American ceremony was held a couple days after and I had the pleasure of styling hair for beautiful bride Adeola and her bridesmaids.  Adeola was referred to me by her sister Tiwa Lawrence who is an awesome make-up artist who I have worked with on several occasions.  Tiwa is very talented in her make-up artistry and a pleasure to work with so I was happy to know I would get to work with her again.

During Adeola’s bridal hair consultation she explained how she wanted a full look that could be worn up and easily altered for a dress change.  After listening to her request, a classic undo with elegant waves and volume was decided.  The style was pinned so the removal of just a few pins would release the curls in the back and create an easy half-up/half-down style.  Adeola fell in love with the look on the first run through and the ease of going from one style to the next was a plus!

During the morning of the wedding I was all smiles and ready to begin at 8:00am sharp.  I was filled with excitement and adrenaline, this is how I know I love what I do!  I began by prepping the bridesmaids hair.  Their hair style allowed for simplistic beauty by gathering the hair to one side and adding curls.  As I completed each bridesmaid they then moved on to have make-up application done by the talented Mayowa.  After briefly getting to know Mayowa, who was also a bridesmaid, I learned she loves doing make-up for weddings and proms in her spare time.

Now it was time to style Adeola’s hair and this is where the bulk of my time was spent.  When any bride invests their time and money in me as their bridal hair stylist, I like to make sure I am providing them with absolute quality.  Once I was done styling her hair it was even better than the consultation day.  Adeola chose to complete the hair look with an extravagant head piece.  Her bridesmaids also completed their hair looks with a little bit of hair jewelry.  After make-up artist Tiwa Lawrence finished Adeola’s make-up and she slipped into her custom gown by Veejay Floresca, she emerged as an eye catching bride!
